DNPA Code of Ethics

1. Compliance with Law & Editorial Independence

  • We strictly adhere to all relevant laws—including the Constitution of India, the IPC, CrPC, IT Act 2000, and other media-related legislation—without compromising editorial freedom.

2. Ethical Journalism & Accuracy

  • Every news piece is rigorously fact-checked before publication to ensure accuracy, transparency, and fairness.
  • We avoid publishing baseless or defamatory content, prioritizing truth and neutrality.

3. Right of Reply & Updates

  • If an individual or entity is the subject of allegations, their response will be sought and included. If that response arrives later, we will promptly update the article, clearly noting the update’s date.

4. Corrections & Takedowns

  • Should any content be proven false or inaccurate, we will edit or remove it promptly following a valid request with proper identification. If the entire content is compromised, the full article will be taken down.

5. Respect for Intellectual Property

  • We honor all copyrights and moral rights—seeking prior permission and giving appropriate attribution for third-party content (including text, images, and media). Licensing fees or royalties are duly paid when required.
  • Trademark and service mark usage is only with permission or under fair-use norms.

6. Responsible & Sensitive Reporting

  • In reporting crime or sensational topics, we uphold the presumption of innocence and avoid speculation or bias.
  • Topics involving minors, sexual violence, child abuse, communal or religious matters, custody, adoption, and similar sensitive issues are handled with extreme care, ensuring respect, restraint, and lawful compliance (especially under Sections 67, 67A, 67B of the IT Act).

7. Grievance Redressal

  • We appoint a Grievance Officer whose contact details are clearly visible on the website.
  • Complaints are acknowledged within 36 hours and resolved—where possible—within 30 days.

8. Training & Awareness

  • Our editorial team undergoes periodic training on relevant legal frameworks (e.g. Copyright, RTI, IPR, POCSO, defamation laws, etc.).
  • We emphasize the privacy of individuals—especially minors and victims—not revealing identities or locations.
  • We foster sensitivity in coverage of judicial matters and communal topics, reinforcing communal harmony, accuracy, and neutrality.
